About

Hey there! I’m Rohin Narayan – a physicist turned quant, now navigating the worlds of data science and finance with the same curiosity and analytical drive that first led me to study the mysteries of particle physics.

After earning a master’s in Physics, I began my professional life designing and simulating particle physics experiments. From there, I dove deeper into research, completing a Ph.D. at the University of Heidelberg in Germany while working on the ATLAS experiment at CERN. My focus was on studying the properties of fundamental particles like quarks and bosons, including the Z-boson and the Higgs boson. It was a thrilling experience that profoundly shaped my approach to problem-solving, data analysis, machine learning & software engineering.

Eventually, I pivoted into quantitative finance, where I’m now working on Citi’s counterparty credit risk team. My role allows me to apply my analytical skills in a new arena, from modeling risk to understanding complex financial derivatives. It’s been an incredible journey, bridging physics and finance in ways that continue to challenge and inspire me.

Here on Curve Chronicles, I share insights from my experiences, covering everything from physics and data science to thoughts on finance and reflections on transitioning from academia to industry. Whether you’re a data enthusiast, a finance professional, or just curious about going from particle physics to Wall Street, I hope you find something interesting here.

When I’m not deep in code or tinkering with models, you’ll probably find me hiking on a random trail trying to catch my breath or on a soccer field (even if it sometimes ends with a bruised toe!).

Thanks for stopping by – feel free to reach out if you’d like to chat about physics, finance, or anything in between!
